Watertown looks good while capturing Region 1A wrestling title

at MADISON — Five region champions and 13 state qualifiers the Watertown Arrows captured the Region 1A wrestling tournament on Saturday.

The Arrows racked up 256 points ahead of West Central (206) and Tea Area (190). Brookings (174.5) and Sioux Falls O’Gorman (129) rounded out the top five teams.

Gage Lohr (106), Sloan Johannsen (120), Ian Johnson (152), Brock Eitreim (195) and Micah Hach all claimed individual titles for Watertown.

West Central had two champions, Karson Vessells (113) and Chandler Carda (145).

Brookings had two champions, Tyson Brandt (182) and James Olson (220).

Tea Area also had two champions, Maddix Slykhuis (126) and Sam Werdel (170).

Other Individual championships were claimed by Madison’s Caleb Hodges (132), Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Ayden Dooley (138) and Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Keenan Sheridan (160).
