I wanted to give you some quick updates on what is going on with the program. We have a great group of guys staying here for the summer and training. It is exciting to see the amount of work that they are doing in preparation for next year. They also did great in the classroom this spring ,earning over a 3.0 GPA as a team!
Last week we announced our recruiting class for this year which included eight athletes representing South Dakota (5), North Dakota (1), Nebraska (1), and Minnesota (1). This class features a lot of great wrestlers, but this group also does a great job in the classroom as well. We may still add 1-2 more guys to the list over the summer, but as it now stands we will have a roster of nearly 40 guys going into the fall.
This June we will host our youth and team camps at Northern State in the Barnett Center. Our youth camp (K-6) runs from June 7-9 and this year we have Alex Kocer (NCAA All-American from SDSU) and Jared Franek (NCAA Qualifier from NDSU) as our clinicians. Our team camp (7-12) will run from June 27-30, and we have all-star lineup of clinicians including Logan Stieber (4xNCAA Champion Ohio State and World Champion), Doug Schwab (UNI Head Coach and NCAA Champion from Iowa), Jim Miller (former 10xNCAA Champion Coach at Wartburg), and Cliff Fretwell (founder of Compound Wrestling Club). We currently have over 20 teams committed to attend, which is the most we have ever had! Finally, we are still taking registrations for our golf outing on August 6th at Lee Park Golf Course. This has turned into a great event and we would look forward to another great turnout.
