Quote from jobro04 on March 29, 2022, 10:45 amNow that dust has settled I have some comments about the tournament. Some families I talked to this was their first experience with the youth state tournament. It should be the highlight of the season for athletes and families. Many of the first time people said they are seriously considering not even attending the state tournament again. I have been to lots of tournaments. Some even bigger than state. I have never experienced tournament staff as rude as at the state tournament. They were given a green shirt and went on a power trip. Lots of people also said they never want to attend again if the tournament is held at the premier center again. They kept saying they were trying to keep the number of people on the floor down. The easiest way to do that is to have sessions. We were there for 10 hours on Saturday for my 9 year old to wrestle 3 matches. That is completely unacceptable. They have had sessions every other year and they also have sessions for the high school tournament. They had 2 separate sessions last year with a break in between and it still went faster than this year. My son was done by 11:45 last year. Also only allowing 1 coach per wrestler is ridiculous. It clearly states in the rule book wrestlers are allowed 2 coaches. Next let's talk about Sioux empire wrestling. They are a nonprofit organization that was set up 60 days before the state tournament was in Sioux Falls last time. They say they were established to provide opportunities to youth wrestlers in the Sioux Empire area. I have yet to talk to anyone who has a practice they held or a camp or clinic that they sponsored. The only time their Facebook page is active is right before the state tournament. Also if you post anything on their page they deem negative they delete it and then block you. If they are actually using the tens of thousands of dollars they bring in from the tournament to help youth wrestling that is awesome. Or are they just making money off the backs of youth athletes.

Do you think the Denny is Free, The Arena was $10,000 cant imagine what the Denny is.
They also give back to the local High Schools which is now putting on youth wrestling.
