As a mother of a girl wrestler, I am a bit disappointed they are not having some sort of tournament that could determine if they are able to go to state. My daughter has not had the chance to wrestle but just a few times this year. There never seems to be girls at our tournaments we attend! This seems to be a very unfair process. Girls Wrestling is still in the infancy state, your daughter might not see it, but as the sport grows and has more participation – Their will be Region Wrestle offs just like the boys have……But then only the top 4 girls from each region go to state.
Its not the best 16 of the state it’s the top 4 of each region that make the 16 participants at state.
Your girl might be the 5th best wrestler in the state and if all 5 girls happen to be from the same region she will then again not make state because they only take the top 4.
