We are headed into Week 6 of 7 in Phase I Training. We have had a record number of wrestlers register in Phase I dating back to 2015 when we first started. Thank You for trusting us and our coaching staff. Please note if you missed one of the 7 week sessions on either Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday nights......the make up night for any session missed during Phase I is on Sunday's 6:30-8pm. This will also give you a chance to be Coached by Jeff Nielsen. Coach Nielsen has gone above and beyond for our kids on Sunday. Working out and learning high paced technique each Sunday is a true treat!Coach Stoeser on Tuesday nights has been very well thought out and truly sets the stage for the High School students transitioning to their schools on Monday and stressing the higher level technique and thought process for the younger students striving to make a major impact in their middle school and high school in the years to come.Coach Ingalls continues to move the needle with our grass root K-3 students. This is a fun high paced room! Very organized amongst controlled chaos to establish the foundation in culture, vocabulary, technique, mindset, and tireless work ethic.Phase II Registration is open online - www.metroselectsports.com**Everybody must sign up for each session. We are growing each year and need to keep up the administrative requirements for liability, insurance, and finances. Please get this done ASAP. It helps with tracking and preparing our coaching staff with the number of students and level at each 3 night offerings.See attached flier for dates and times.ALL K-3 Wrestlers - THANKSGIVING THURSDAY - Your Practice is Tuesday, Nov. 23rd instead of Thursday, 25th.Please read the letter below......METRO WRESTLING ACADEMY = “The Wrestlers Home”We are excited for the questions and dialogue we are receiving in regards to what the Metro Wrestling Academy has to offer coming up for the 2021-2022 school year. It has come evidently clear as a coach, athletic administrator, and collegiate/HS official that our wrestling students seem to hit a dead end as 4-8th graders. Kudos to the football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and hockey community for providing options that seem so abundant, enticing, and frequent for kids to say they just love it. Do they? I have four kids from 10-17 years of age at home and they love everything they have done so far. Everything is lovable, until it becomes hard and we fail. Wrestling provides one of the greatest failing options that exist. Embrace the process, and build each other up at your home and within the Academy. Why would they (4-8th boys/girls)/you (parent(s)) fight the battle at “Home” as to why they would want to continue to wrestle? That is the mission and focus of the Metro Wrestling Academy. The Academy is a guide on the side to bridge the gap for our young men to use wrestling as a tool to grow into leaders at their “Home”, future relationships, husbands/wives, neighbors, future coaches, officials, academics, and employees.Let’s come together as a wrestling community and equip our students with what they will face as they transition from youth sports, to middle level sports, interscholastic success on the mat, and most importantly off the mat representing their area schools. This is a “process, not events” that will plant seeds to be harvested in the short term, and more importantly harvested in the long term as an investment in the wrestling culture and climate in becoming citizens. The vision has been communicated and laid out to many folks including area youth club coaches and head coaches the last couple weeks. This has led to a fury of questions from the wrestling community with only some being answered in pockets across the state. The idea is to get every question answered and make sure this is a Metro Area Wrestling Family’s “Home” for questions and answers. The outreach and tools to equip your “Home” during a violent (positive word) wrestling season of school work, social status, social media, peers, deeply involved relationships, wrestling techniques, time management, nutrition, weight reduction, the list goes on can be found within our Academy experts.Again, no events can solve all of these in a short time. These are ongoing resources and qualified K-12 educators that will be beside your “Home” to answer those difficult nurturing questions in the most pivotal time of a young man/woman's life. Our doors will be open from October – March for you to have full access to Metro Wrestling Academy experts with over 135 years of experience who have lived it and love it.
