I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume the purpose of this was just to see what kind of a reaction you could get. On the off chance that you are actually just that ignorant, let me give you some insight. Buckle up, this could be a long one.
Here is the exact email we received Friday evening:
Due to the weather forecast for Saturday, January 28, there will be no activities in the Brandon Valley School District. As a result, the following activities have been cancelled for tomorrow:
- Oral Interp travel to Omaha, NE
- All-State Band Auditions at Brandon Valley High School
- Wrestling @ Brookings
- Girls 7th and 8th Grade Basketball vs Pierre
Additional information regarding rescheduling will be communicated at a later time.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that Terry Pack and the BV Activities administration are not in cahoots together to plan for wrestlers to be free to help work an LOG tournament. I will tell you that today, Sunday, on what is usually their only day off each week, at least 7 of the BV wrestlers did go help at that tournament. Want to know why? Because they love the sport of wrestling and giving back to it when they can. They are role models to those up and coming young wrestlers, showing them what commitment looks like.
BV would have loved to be in Brookings on Saturday. If you would like to contact the BV Activities department and ask why they canceled all activities that day, I’m sure they would gladly take your call. The wrestlers were looking forward to another solid day of competition. I suppose it was nice for those teams that were able to attend to have a few more champions than would have happened if we were there. You’re welcome.
