Canton Wrestling started in 1972 and celebrated its 50-year Anniversary in 2022. Canton’s first ever individual state champion was Paul Wong at 112lbs. in 1995. In 1995, Coach Nick Joslyn led Canton to its first ever team podium finish with a 7th place finish. In 2005, Head Coach Jeremy Ask led Canton to its 2 nd trip as a team to the podium when Josh Montgomery and Brett Jarman both became Canton’s 2 nd and 3 rd state champions in school history and helped lead Canton to a 5th place team finish. Since 2005, Canton has been on the podium as a team every year and will be looking to finish as a top 6 team here in 2024, for the 20 th straight season. In 2012, Head Coach Jeremy Ask led Canton to its first ever State Championship as
a team. Canton has since then broke the State Tournament Team Points Record for Class B with 240.5 points in 2020 and has won a total of 8 state team titles and 3 state dual titles. During that time Canton has had a handful of Fargo All-Americans and State Champions. From 2015 – 2022, Canton had a dual win streak of 145-0 and is currently ranked as the 7th longest win streak by USA Wrestling.
