This is an updated list of qualifiers including those who have been added by request from the wrestlers.  Brackets will be developed over the next few days and will be posted when completed.

We have had many name and town corrections sent,  hopefully we got them all corrected.   This file should be current as of any corrections we received at 10:00 AM this morning.  If you have any other changes please send them so we can get them fixed as soon as possible.  Thanks.

James Nelson of Douglas is listed at 160 and 180 Schoolboy Region 1 how does that work?

He did not make weight at 160 and wrestled up at 180 since there was openings.  He should not be listed at 160 -that was my error not getting him scratched because there were no others in that weight class.

wow, i don't believe you did that right.  If Nelson weighed in and wrestled at 160 in Districts, then didn't make the 160 weight at Regions, then he is out.  He should not have been allowed to wrestle at the higher weight class.  Now, if at the end of the tournament there was an empty spot to fill at 180, he could have moved into that place.

My understanding per instruction that was given by Bob Johnson to one of our tournament directors is that a kid can bump from districts to regionals if there is an opening.  We had that occur at another weight and division as well and the kid got to wrestle for a chance at State at the heavier weight, although he did not place in the top 3.

I do know that if he didn't show or make weight at regionals, he does not get an automatic pass to State at his district qualified weight.  That is, even though he was the only qualifier from either district, he still had to show up to weigh ins and make weight to get the State spot at 160.

However, as we only had 2 wrestlers at 180, there were plenty of openings and he was eligible per Bob's instruction stated above.  Could he have waited and requested the open spot at the higher weight at State without even wrestling in Regionals?  I don't know the answer to that.

As it is, he won both matches against heavier opponents and deserves the 1 seed from Region 1 in my opinion.  The other two wrestlers are both going as well, nobody got bumped.

he would not have gotten to wrestle if the next class up did not have an opening.  Was there an opening at the weight class above your wrestler's weight?  To answer your question, the rules were given to our tournament director by Bob Johnson.

Well than I guess your region is different then other regions and your tournament flyer is wrong than.  I have been to 8 years of AAU and any wrestler not making weight shouldn't have to worry about it as you can just move up.  Why would I have a wrestler run to make weight as none of the brackets in the upper weights are ever full.  In fact a couple of years ago I had my kid move up to heavy weight and wrestle bigger kids as he was even with the weight and I was told be the district people if he didn't make 140 he wouldn't be able to wrestle regions.

if your wrestler did not make weight in his bracket you shouldn't cut it so close and if the next weight group has there 8 kids you don't get to bump up a weight group it's been like that for as long as i've known

On region 5 results, 115 pound schoolboy Jackson Pletten from Brandon Valley got 3rd and you have aVermillion wrestler getting 3rd. This may already have already been brought to your attention. Thanks

Thanks JOHNNYBOY.  If you look at the second posting of the kids that qualified for State, you will see that it has been corrected.  But, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

DLillie I wouldn't call it a misinterpretation  if we were specifically told a wrestler from Districts could bump a class if it was open.  What is the difference between not making weight and requesting a bump to fill an opening at Regions vs. not placing 1-8th at District and filling an opening at Regions?  Nothing, but apparently that has now been reversed/over-ruled as we are changing his seed from 1st to 3rd.   So give myself 5 smites for following directions of the Regional Tournament director.   ;)
