This should be the deal breaker on why we should seed the state tournament. This is absolutely ludicrous.

I liked the idea of atleast seeding the winners of each region.. This would never happen then.

Personally I think if you aren't gonna seed the entire weight class you could still easily seed the top 2 in every region. But I guess it doesn't involve an orange ball so it's not at the top of the list of issues for the sdhsaa to deal with.

Is there a reason at all that they don't seed the four region winners?  This is absolutely ridiculous.

We have this argument every year and every year we live with it and just realize that alot of time the semis have the best matches.  would it be fair to seat the four region champs if 3 of the best wreslters in that weight come out of the same region.  that is why we wrestle, and who is to say that someone else won't show up to wrestle Amo or Havlik in the finals.  The kid from Huron had Havlik on his back and many say he had him pinned in the regions.  Anything can happen at a state tournment.

If it was anyone else, he might have been pinned.  jmo

Every year something crazy happens. Could someone win 170 other than Havlik or Amo? Doubtful but it is possible!! I can't pick between the two. Always so close and one bad move by either will cost them a state title.

Ehh I disagree I don't think he was quite pinned although Meyers had it really tight. If he has another 15 seconds I think he gets it done.

another consequence of our systems failure to seed the brackets, is the inflation of team scores on the weaker side of those brackets.
for instance some team on the weak side will recieve the 12 points for a semi-final win, and this could be the difference in a tight team race.
as a scooper fan i see an opportunity to gain points. as a fan of wrestling i see the sport being hurt.

i agree that this is a flawed system but look at it this way, the best wrestler will show.   if you think your the best than you have to beat the best.
