My name is Jim Keyes and my son Jebben was too late in getting on one of the two teams for weight class 110.  If there becomes an opening on either one of these teams or another team that may be forming please let me know.  This would be his last year at Middle School Duals and he would like to compete in them.  I understand it was my fault in not responding when I should have.  Thank You.

Jim, I don't think you were too late, obviously those weights were filled before an announcement was made.

This announcement went out quite some time before this post on DG was put up.  Most of the AAU clubs were emailed this information late last year.  I know of at least one of our wrestlers that put his name in immediately upon receiving the info., well over a month ago.  It is very possible that the spots are filled up.  Don't assume that they were "filled" before the announcement.  I have sent my sons on this trip several times.  Some years their weights were filled so we jumped in with the Rapid City team.  Other years they were open so they went with the Team SD bunch.  Several of those years saw individual towns bring their own teams, such as Pierre.  It's a great opportunity and the more we can bring the better.
I'm short, but I'm slow!

I was referring to the announcement on this sight.   Many 7th and 8th graders are not affiliated with an AAU club during the season as they are wrestling with their high school teams.

We are pretty close to releasing all the information and the flyer for the Middle School Dual qualifier, but I wanted to get some information out there before the HS State tourney.

ND will be bringing 2 teams to the Middle School Dual team event held in Indianola, IA on April 13-15th.  We will be having a qualifier tournament on March 10th in Mandan ND to determine the 2 teams.  There will be a 'true second' place matches if needed.  We want to bring the best 2 teams from ND that we can.  This event is for Grade 6th through 8th.  For your 6th graders, there will be an Elementary Dual team event for grades 1-6 going on the same weekend in Nebraska and we will be putting together 2 teams for that also....

Weights are: 75,80,85,90,95,100,105,110,115,120,125,130,135,140,145,152,160,171,189,250  (20 total weights)

Cost for each individual to attend the Middle School Duals in IA is only $165, which includes transportation by Bus from Fargo, team entry fees, 2 nights hotel in Iowa, AAU Card, meals (breakfast at hotel, cooler food during the day during wrestling, and a good evening meal), and a clothing package including: Custom singlet, Mesh shorts, T-shirt, and a Hooded Sweatshirt.

Note: we will have room to take 5 more kids at the same price as above, and they will get approximately the same number of matches as everyone else.

Look for more information to be posted later.

Why does it cost SD Kids so much more???

At least in SD you don't have to be 1st or 2nd in some stupid tournament to earn the right to go, you just have to be the first or second one to mail Bob Johnson a check for $375.

I would like to thank Ryan Holzbauer in asking my son if wanted to be apart of their team, but their was somebody already at that weight class.  If anybody is still wanting to get another team together and you need a 110 pounder please send me a personal message on Dakota Grappler.  My son's name is Jebben Keyes, he is an 8th grader, and wrestles 106 for Pierre.  Being it is going to be his last opportunity ever at this dual tournament, I just want him to be apart of this great experience. I sure wish South Dakota would have some sort of qualifier for this dual tournament. Thank You.

I would also like to know why it costs South Dakota kids $210 more to go to this tournament compared to kids from North Dakota.

Thanks for your reply in advance

That's a good question Jakes Fan & MO......can you show some facts on the following;
Transportation-$
Entry fee-$
Hotel-$
AAU-$
Meals-$
Clothing pack-$

on a per kid base.  It would be nice to know if;   A: ND has a realistic $ amount
or B: SD (aka Bob Johnson) could see how he could save the SD kids some $
