Has there ever been any discussion to allow the region 5th place wrestlers to "challenge" the 4th place wrestler if they had not wrestled during the region tournament (just like the the 3rd place region dual team is allowed to challenge the 2nd place region dual team if they hadn't wrestled that day).  Yesterday in Region 1 a few 5th place wrestlers fell into this predicament.  They work hard all year and I like to see them settle it on the mat and not via the luck of the draw.

I couldn't agree more. They should really consider this

The fifth place finisher lost twice in the day. He had more than one chance to get in the top 4. How many chances do we give? In class A should we allow an opportunity for kids who went 0-2 to challenge the 8th place wrestler?

The existing regions allow for you to have a bad match and still give you an opportunity to make it to state. If you lose twice, sorry.

You can look at some of the region brackets and find where the 5th place finisher has all ready beaten the 4th place finisher.
You'll never get pinned if you never go to your back!

The 4th place finishers also lose twice yet they rightfully get to go to state.  Only if the 5th and 4th place finishers have not met should a "challenge" be considered in order to insure the correct person is going to state.

Correct. I should have stated the 5th place winner has lost twice prior to placement matches.

What if the 4th & 5th place finishers have wrestled and the 5th place kid won, should he get a challenge?

in response to dakotadazzle, don't take these comments overboard.  if you're from Oakes or Lisbon, you understand why the little jabs have to be taken here and there...cause it feels pretty good to be the winner of that battle.  it goes both ways.  you'll see that after Oakes wins the Ind title. :)

Good luck to Oakes with that.

*ahem*

Thought i would take the high road but i can't stand it.  Little Paulie you seem to be awful quiet.  Thanks for wishing us luck.
Didn't really appreciate all the personal jabs but i thought i would let the Tornadoes shut you up.  You seem to know alot about my personal life without having ever met me.  If you wanna go back and find a post where i attacked you personally go ahead.  But after the way Lisbon layed down over the weekend I would imagine you'll just let it go.  4 Straight.

Franklin give it up. Little Paulie never made any bad comments about Oakes nor have I ever seen him make any bad comments about any team. Do the community of Oakes a favor and get off the grappler because all you do is start WORTHLESS things.

Sun Devils learn to frickin read.  Go back and read the pot shots he took at ME, not any one team.  This has nothing to do with you.  Do yourself a favor and stay out of it.  I have every right to defend myself when someone takes a personal shot.

Alright hypocrite. From what I can see in your old posts over the years, you seem to like to take personal shots yourself.

But isn't that just part of the "friendly rivalry?"   >:D

I would not think that in a friendly rivalry, two "adults" need to take pot shots at high school kids who pour their heart and soul in to a wrestling season.  You stated that Lisbon "layed down" last weekend, from what I saw, those young men from Lisbon had much more class and heart than you, or anyone who comes on the grappler to insult high schoolers have shown in the last couple of days.  I have heard of classy fans from Oakes, and I guess it must be true, because you appear to be the exception to the rule.  People like you are the reason that if my sons ever decide to wrestle, I will do everything I can to keep them off of websites like this, as I wouldn't want them to worry about what "adults" like you say about a group of kids you have never met.  Thank you for the friendly reminder of what is wrong with sports, thank the wrestlers, coaches, and good fans for the reminder of what is right with sports last weekend in Bismarck.

I like this Grappler2010. I know that kids look at this and take so many things to heart. I know I did....
Sometimes still do :)
Sorry for some of the stupid posts I have made DG fans.
