http://www.nextedgeacademy.com/

check it out. Bruce Hoyer runs it and I think its the best gym in Sioux Falls. I haven't been able to get down there for awhile but when I was it was amazing training.

There are not any good gyms in SF or the surrounding area.  Hate to be the bearer of bad news.

When I see a fighter from Sioux Falls who actually makes it out of the local fighting circuit and fights somewhere real like Strikeforce, UFC, heck even K1, then I would agree there is a good MMA gym in SF.

Shayna Baszler trains at Next Edge (now part of XFitness I think it's called) and she has fought for Strikeforce a few times, currently ranked in the top-10 in the world I believe as well. Bruce Hoyer is also one of the trainers and he has competed in, and won, many grappling tournaments around the world. The place is legit.

Did she start out training there or does she still currently train out of Sioux Falls?

Not taking anything away from her as she has accomplished a lot but no one cares about Women MMA fighters.

You will most likely never see them in the UFC as Dana himself would not allow it.

Hey guys this is Bruce, Yes we moved into X Fitness but have our own area. As far as me, I won the No-Gi World Championships in 2009 and should have in 2010 but made a stupid mistake. I was also named the best grappler overall in the midwest by grapplingleague.com.

The thing that is tough is not many of our guys and girls fight locally. Most of our fighters fight in North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, California and overseas.

Shayna is currently ranked #3 in the world in MMA at her weight. Yea I doubt UFC will pick up Womens MMA, but she is very smart in mma. I will also say that there are a lot of people at my gym beside Shayna to help you with MMA. I unfortunately can't fight mma in bigger promotions due to a severe retnial dettachment in high school, but i will spar with anyone. ha

There are plenty of good gyms. There is Nextedge, Nak Su, and Tiger ( an all mma gym) where i am one of the instructors. So dont know where this guy is getting that there are no good gyms in Sioux Falls.... It just took SF awhile to get better, and will get even better in the next few years
