Ohio TofC Looking for Montana Contact
« on: September 16, 2011, 07:25:45 PM »
The Ohio Tournament of Champions is looking for a Montana individual
that would be interested in being a State Contact representative for
our event, as we currently have no individual qualifying events in that
state. This person's responsibility would be to distribute information
on the TofC, (which we will send them) to individuals in their state,
that they feel would be worthy competitors at the event. These
competitors would then receive a qualification exemption, which they
would indicate when they registered.

The Ohio TofC, named the top youth wrestling tournament in the world,
is looking to set a new World Record, with more than 4000 individual
entries at it's event next April 21, in Columbus, OH. This will also
mark the tournament's 20th Anniversary.

The Ohio TofC has the distinction of the following:

***Named top youth wrestling tournament in the USA for the past decade
(2001-2010)

***Holds current mark of largest one day amateur wrestling tournament -
with more than 3500 entries

***Nation's only modified National Championship (it is not strictly a
takedown tournament, as some have referred to it as. It is more a cross
between folkstyle and freestyle. All matches are a 1 3 minute period.
After a takedown, wrestlers do have the opportunity to turn their
opponent for back points. However, lack of mat activity, or going out
of bounds, will result in a neutral start). Matches are 10 point
technical fall and sudden death overtime. Other than that, high school
rules apply.

***At this past year's NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, seven
of the 10 weights were won by TofC alumni.

***Special guest stars, which this past year included Zachary Gordon
and Grayson Russell, from the movie "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," signing
free autographs for all the wrestlers.

***Most unique awards of all the major youth tournaments and champions
also receive a wristwatch. (Top 8 all receive the same size award)

***New mascot every year

***Wrestlers are on the same mat for the entire day

***New for 2012: State Competiton, as well as Team/Club Competition
